Animal health consultancy firm dmrkynetec has appointed Jim Herman vice-president of research. Mr Herman has two decades' experience in the market research industry, most recently with US business Maritz Research, and before that with Monsanto. He will work from one of the company's US offices.

| Banfield appoints new chief executive |
The US pet hospital Banfield has appointed John Payne its new chief executive. He was a former executive at Bayer Animal Health in North America. Mr Payne succeeds Dr Scott Campbell, who retired in July but remains as chairman of the board of directors.
