Undiagnosed mild cattle bloat may cost more than severe cases
A US researcher says that the economic losses of cattle deaths resulting from mild, undiagnosed bloat may be greater than those from later stages of bloat.
Bloat is a digestive disorder that occurs when gas accumulates inside the animal, but the animal is not able to expel it through belching. As the pressure increases, the nerves that control the belching function are inhibited. The animal becomes uncomfortable, and this may lead to behavioral changes that could negatively impact the animal's health and productivity, and ultimately lead to death....
