French animal health firm Vetinnov has added to its EasyPill range that was first launched in Europe in 2005.

The system is designed to help pet owners administer tablets to their cats and dogs more easily. The pet is fed an empty EasyPill to accustom it to the taste, and then it is fed one containing the medication.

Managing director Dr Jean-Pierre Maloisel claims a 90% success rate in feeding medications to pets, adding that the technique helps to preserve a trusting relationship between the pet and its owner.

From October this year, the EasyPill range will contain two new active substance formulations. The first, containing L-Lysina, controls Herpes Virus infection in cats. The other is based on smectite to prevent diarrhea in dogs.
