Novartis Animal Health has donated $625,000 to North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. The money will support the clinical trials program at the center for comparative medicine and translational research (CCMTR).

The college will employ a clinical trials veterinarian and a veterinary research technician, and will dedicate laboratory space and equipment to clinical research studies involving patients at the University’s veterinary teaching hospital.

Director of the CCMTR Dr Gregg Dean says: "Clinical studies are integral to the advancement of veterinary medicine. Such studies investigate risk factors for disease as well as methods to prevent, treat, or cure illnesses that affect animals and humans. The Novartis gift will fund resources that are critical to helping the CCMTR ensure an effective clinical trials program."
