New man to communicate the animal helth message
The International Federation for Animal Health (IFAH) has appointed a new communications director to replace Bernd Halling, who left the organization in June.
Dr Özgür Öner takes over the role from the beginning of September. Dr Öner most recently worked for a European affairs consultancy group. He has also been the director of the German healthcare sector representation in Brussels, worked for a vice-president of the European Parliament and was in charge of European affairs for a German federal state.
“Özgür brings a wealth of experience in public relations and public affairs to IFAH and we look forward to him providing leadership and direction in broadening our communications reach in the coming years,” says George Gunn, president of IFAH.
“His wide experience will help the animal health industry to further develop its policy direction in building a greater awareness of the value of the animal health to society as a whole on a global scale,” adds Declan O’Brien, managing director of IFAH-Europe.
“The animal health industry brings tremendous benefits to society by protecting the health and welfare of animals including companion animals," says Dr Öner. "I look forward to using my experience to communicate these benefits and to build on the stakeholder approach to ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the research, development and licensing processes for animal health products across the globe."
