Mr DeLuca, presently Fort Dodge's chief operating officer, will succeed E Thomas Corcoran, who is retiring after serving as president of parent company Wyeth's animal health division since 1985. Mr Corcoran was recently presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Animal Pharm Awards 2007 in London (Animal Pharm No 620, p 18).
"Tom has taken Fort Dodge from a small biologicals company to a growing organization recognized today as a global leader in the animal health industry that sells products in more than 100 countries," said Wyeth president and chief operating officer Bernard Poussot. "His dedication to innovative animal health research has helped develop important pharmaceutical products and vaccines."
Mr DeLuca has been with Wyeth since 1988, and has worked in several roles within the company.
"Rick is an accomplished leader who has made significant contributions to the growth and success of our animal health business," Mr Poussot said. "He brings a strong mix of leadership, operational experience, and business knowledge to this position."
