The US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) has named Dr Joan Gotthardt director of implementation for the MUMS Animal Health Act of 2004 Indexing provisions, which come into effect in February 2008.

Dr Gotthardt, who has been with CVM since 1995 and has spent the last five years serving as director of the Division of Therapeutic Drugs for Food Animals in the Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation, will join CVM's Office of Minor Use and Minor Species in February.
