Dr Lyle P Vogel: "Serving the AVMA in this new role is a challenge I'm excited about."

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has elected Dr Lyle P Vogel assistant executive vice-president.

He had been in this role on an interim basis since August in addition to his duties as director of the animal welfare division. Dr Vogel has been with AVMA since 1993, and before that he spent 26 years in the US Army Veterinary Corps.

"Serving the AVMA in this new role is a challenge I'm excited about," Dr Vogel said. "I will draw on my experiences with the AVMA over the past 14 years to help [AVMA executive vice-president Dr Ron DeHaven], other AVMA staff, and the AVMA leadership as we move forward to address the critical issues facing the profession."
