Swedish cooperative Lantmannen has signed a two-year research contract with CCL, the research arm of
Netherlands-based Cehave Landbouwbelang. The project will focus on developing cattle feed, and will take place on Lantmannen's research farm.

Both companies will work on the R&D, with joint decisions about which projects will have priority.

The businesses will then use the results independently for product development.

The research contract fits in with existing studies at each company. Cehave Landbouwbelang has an extensive program of cattle research, mainly undertaken by CCL, and the partnership with Lantmannen will form part of this work.

Lantmannen has worked on a new feed development strategy for the past year, combining on-farm trials with international cooperation.

Lennart Nilsson, feed division manager at Lantmannen, comments: "Our collaboration with CCL means that we double our competence in cattle feed development, and this allows us to remain at the leading edge and hold on to our position as the leading feed development company in Sweden. Furthermore, it allows us to reduce our costs and increase our efficiency."
