Dr Rick Sibbel, director of technical services and global ruminant at Schering-Plough Animal Health, has received the NIAA's Meritorious Service Award. The award recognizes leadership and dedication, and contributions to the NIAA and to animal agriculture.
The NIAA President's Award was given to Dr Jerome Geiger, US health assurance veterinarian at PIC North America. The honor recognizes an NIAA committee chairman for exemplary leadership and dedication to the Institute.
Dr Rafael Seneriz, senior research scientist for Elanco Animal Health, won the Chairman's Award. This recognizes the volunteer of the year, and is awarded for "unselfish dedication and tireless devotion to the advancement of NIAA".
NIAA members include producers, veterinarians, state and federal officials and scientists. The organization enhances communication links and continuing education for animal agriculture professionals. It is committed to the eradication of animal diseases that present a risk to human health, and promotes best practices in environmental stewardship and animal health.
