Merial has become an official sponsor of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), an equine breed registry.
As part of the arrangement, three of Merial's products, the omeprazoles Gastrogard and Ulcergard, and Equinoxx (firocoxib) have been named as official AQHA pharmaceutical products.

Merial will be the title sponsor of the distaff division of the Bank of America Racing Challenge.
It will sponsor the 2008 World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, and the 2009 Bayer Select World Championship Show in Amarillo in 2009, among other sponsorships. Further AQHA sponsors include Bayer Animal Health, Fort Dodge Animal Health and the grooming and conditioning product manufacturer Farnam.
