The first ever full draft of the horse genome has been produced by an international group of scientists, and is freely available for use by researchers around the globe.
The effort, which cost $15m, was funded by the national Human Genome Project, from the US National Institutes of Health.
Sequencing began in 2006, building on a 10-year collaborative effort from the Horse Genome Project, an international group of scientists that work on using genomics to address equine health issues....
