Researchers at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine have announced that they have successfully tested an experimental oral vaccine that prevents the development of prion disease in mice. Diseases such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, scrapie, and chronic wasting disease are spread by prions, which are infectious proteins so similar in composition to normal proteins that an animal's immune system does not recognize the need to fight them of....
